Dog Warts for the most part are a form of non-cancerous tumors and growths. Granted there are some forms of warts that are not benign. Young dogs and old dogs can get dog warts. Dog Warts are more common on older dogs sense there immune system is not as strong as it was when they where a pup.

Dog Warts can also bring on canine itching. This can make your dog scratch, lick and bite the area of the dog wart. If the skin is broken it can cause bleeding or an infection in the wart area. Viral Dog Warts that are caused by the papilloma virus are common and can go away on their own with proper care and vitamins. Dog Warts that are caused by papilloma virus are very contagious and have an incubation period of 30 to 60 days before dog warts are visible.

Dog warts are typical small growths on the dog’s skin, though they can form inside the mouth and around the gums and inner cheeks. They are often cauliflower shaped and tend to spread to more than just one wart if it is caused by the papilloma virus. Dog warts are not painful.

A vet can diagnose dog warts normally by just looking at them. Dog warts are often skin colored or a whitish yellow. Your vet a can look at the warts and see if they need to be biopsied or not.

Keeping your dog health with the vitamins it needs can help protect them from Dog Warts. Prevention is key, for all of our pets. To have dog warts removed by a vet can cost a few hundred dollars. A vet will often recommend removing them to keep them from spreading. This can sometimes include using sedatives to make your dog relax before removal of the dog warts. The other way they are removed is surgically and it is done under anesthesia.

Itching Canine / Canine itching becomes a problem when the dog scratches a lot. Canine Itching can cause your dog pain and to become upset. This may cause the owners of the pet some distress. A certain level of canine itching is normal. “A example of normal canine scratching is when your dog is trying to remove something from its coat, or a bug that has crawled in it’s fur and made its way to the skin.” Canine itching can also just feel good from time to time.

Canine itching becomes problematic when your dogs scratches so much that it starts to break the skin. This can causes painful open sores leaving your pet in a uncomfortable state. These sores if left untreated can become infected, leading to more complications.

Flea and Ticks Flea Bite Allergic Dermatitis is a common allergy that affects dogs. Dogs can also be allergic to bites from other insects, spiders, etc.

Food is very typical source because of contaminates and illness-causing bacteria. The USDA does not regulate or certify beef, lamb, fish, and poultry when used for animals. Also, most dog food contains fillers such as corn and wheat which have been known to carry mycotoxins which are another source of allergies. A unhealthy diet can certainly effect how your dog feels. In turn this can lead to balance of the dogs skin becoming unhealthy.

Environmental factors can play a large role for many kinds of canine itching. Specially a canine who is an allergy sufferer. Dust mites, mold, and pollen typically infect the respiratory system, Dogs that chew; lick, and or paw at their faces often do so as a way of dealing with the irritation.

Other Factors: such as pesticides, lawn bacteria, air fresheners and weed killers contain many toxic chemicals that can be a source of canine itching. Fleas may also cause allergic irritants.

When canine itching goes well beyond normal you should contact your vet. They can help identify the causes and point you in the right direction to eliminate the cause.
