Also, most dog food contains fillers such as corn and wheat which have been known to carry mycotoxins which are another source of allergies. A unhealthy diet can certainly effect how your dog feels. In turn this can lead to balance of the dogs skin becoming unhealthy.

Environmental factors can play a large role for many kinds of canine itching. Specially a canine  who is an allergy sufferer. Dust mites, mold, and pollen typically infect the respiratory system, Dogs that chew; lick, and or paw at their faces often do so as a way of dealing with the irritation.

Other Factors: such as pesticides, lawn bacteria, air fresheners and weed killers contain many toxic chemicals that can be a source of canine itching. Fleas may also cause allergic irritants.

When canine itching goes well beyond normal you should contact your vet. They can help identify the causes and point you in the right direction to eliminate the cause.
